A national law firm · 2026 · Delivery lead on a managed services takeover
Context
The firm’s website ran on a headless platform built by another agency. When enhancements stopped arriving, the firm found out that its supplier could no longer support what it had built.
The challenge
We had to take over a live platform with little documentation and unknown security exposure. There was an external SEO agency to coordinate with, and the client was already losing confidence.
What I did
- Ran the takeover end to end: access capture, staging build, front-end migration and hosting cutover.
- Negotiated the cutover date with the firm’s SEO agency, so the move didn’t cost search visibility.
- Moved late client requirements into a separate post-migration piece of work, so they didn’t push the launch.
- Ran a health check on the inherited platform to show the client exactly what they had, in a technical report and a plain-English summary.
The outcome
- Live on new hosting about four months after kick-off.
- Inherited security issues fixed, and the site’s external security rating lifted from B to A within a fortnight.
- The follow-on platform upgrade proposal was signed the day it was issued.
