Now

Updated Monday 2 November 2026

This is a now page: what I’m focused on at the moment, not everything I’ve ever done. The idea comes from Derek Sivers and nownownow.com.

At work

I’m leading delivery on enterprise web platforms for clients in arts, health, law and government. This year most of my attention has gone to two things: keeping long-running platforms secure and current, and working out where AI actually helps a delivery team. So far the best answer is better-written tickets.

Speaking

I’m getting ready for Enqueue in Sydney on Wednesday 9 December. My talk is You’re All Project Managers Now: Why your agent is only as good as your brief, and it draws on a survey I ran on how project managers are using AI.

Before that, I’m at ADAConf in Melbourne on Thursday 19 November, there to listen rather than talk, thanks to a scholarship from Tech Leading Ladies.

Writing

I’m rebuilding this site and bringing Managing Remotely across with it.

I’m also the backup proofreader for The Repository, the weekly WordPress news email, and step in when the regular proofreader is away. It’s the last check before an issue goes out, which is a responsibility I enjoy.

The podcast

Future of Team, the podcast I co-hosted with James Giroux, is resting for now. The episodes are still there if you’d like to listen.

Outside work

Skyrim on the PS5 for some old-school goodness, and Mythwind on the tabletop. Cumulus Inc. is a firm favourite for dinner. And I’m keeping the Wee Car, my 1967 Riley Elf, on the road.
